Protaras

Protaras boasts a long stretch of beaches including one of the most famous beaches in Cyprus, Fig Tree Bay, the sea is crystal clear and the sand so fine you could be forgiven for thinking you were in the Caribbean. There are lots of water sports to be found on the beach.

The restaurants, bars and shops can be found in abundance along the ‘strip’ and down the side roads. There is plenty of entertainment for adults and children alike.

If you enjoy walking, then Cape Greco is easily accessible along the main road. From sea cliffs with their sparking waters to the beautiful indigenous fauna, this wildly beautiful area is great for some ‘me’ time.

Also, along the Protaras road you can walk up to Elias Hills and view Protaras from a higher point – breathtaking. Prepare to be captivated by a spectacular sunset from the top of the hill, where you will find St Elias Church. It takes a hundred steps to get up the hill but once you’ve braved the climb, try and go close to the sunset, just to see the amazing colours of the sun as it makes its dazzling descent. If walking does not appeal you can still view the church from Protaras, which is all lit up at night.

There are local tour operators who offer various trips or enjoy a boat trip, go fishing, diving and lots more.

If you wish to explore more of the lovely island, there is a regular bus service with bus stops along the road that take you to Pernera, Ayia Triada, Kapparis, Parlimni, Cape Greko and Ayia Napa, all for 1 euro 50 cents each way or buy a bus day pass for just 5 euros. Children travel 1/2 price, infants travel free.
